Tayla Wilson brings over a decade of clinical experience to Sense Check, blending evidence-based psychological therapy with a warm, collaborative approach. She believes therapy is most effective when insight is paired with practical reflection, and every person is met with curiosity, empathy, and respect.
Tayla is a Registered Psychologist and AHPRA Board-Approved Supervisor, with advanced training in Schema Therapy and EMDR-informed trauma care. Her work focuses on helping individuals understand and shift long-standing emotional, relational, and behavioural patterns that no longer serve them.
Her clinical background spans complex trauma, attachment wounds, emotional regulation difficulties, addictions, forensic and high-risk presentations, workplace mental health, and youth mental health. She has worked across private practice, forensic services, schools, and disability services, supporting both short-term and depth-oriented therapeutic work.
In addition to client therapy, Tayla provides board-approved supervision to early-career and provisional psychologists, supporting safe, ethical, and reflective clinical practice.
Her approach creates a grounded, safe space to explore patterns, challenge what no longer serves you, and cultivate deeper self-understanding — supporting meaningful, lasting change.
Sense Check is a private psychology practice dedicated to helping you understand your emotional patterns, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and create lasting change through evidence-based therapy.
Psychology You Can Apply
Many of the patterns that shape how we think, feel, and behave form early in life. Left unexamined, these schemas can quietly drive repeated reactions, self-criticism, and feelings of being stuck.
Sense Check was developed to make advanced psychological therapy and Schema-based insight accessible and practical. By reframing complex ideas into clear, actionable guidance, it helps you understand the beliefs and patterns behind your thoughts and emotions, and supports change toward greater awareness, flexibility, and resilience.
It is a space to pause, reflect, and engage with your inner world — creating clarity and practical tools that carry beyond the therapy room and into everyday life.
Our work is grounded in advanced Schema Therapy principles and EMDR-informed trauma processing to support deep, lasting change-not just symptom relief.
From there, origins and triggers are explored through practical exercises, reflection prompts, and real-world experiments that help test new ways of thinking and acting. Unresolved emotional experiences are gently processed so they no longer hold the same intensity in the present. Collaborative discussion helps make sense of insights, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and reinforce adaptive strategies.
Each step builds on the last, creating a rhythm of reflection and action that turns psychological insight into tools you can use in everyday life. An accompanying app—currently in development—allows you to revisit techniques, exercises, and insights outside of sessions, making it easier to integrate change into daily routines.
